Geschichte The name Nuragus itself is that of a small town in the hills between Cagliari and the fishing town of Oristano (where the specialty is Vernaccia di Oristano). Nuragus is almost unknown and unplanted outside the hills and plains of southern Sardinia, but even in an area as small as this, there is room for synonyms to develop; Nuragus also goes by the names Abbondosa and Axina. An ancient vine, Nuragus is thought to have been brought to Sardinia by the Phoenicians in the 12th Century BC. The vine is high yielding and produces light-bodied wines with marked acidity.
Ampelographische Merkmale Leaf: medium size, pentagonal or orbicular, quinquelobata and rarely troubled; Petiole breast in lira, semi-closed or ellipsoid and closed and also with overlapping edges; Upper piriformi, closed or semi-closed lateral breasts and even with overlapping, moderately deep edges; U lateral lateral breasts, open or semi-closed, moderately deep. Loaded, bulky and wrinkled top page; Bottom-greenish-grayish page, very fluffy, flat and often wavy flap, revolving lobes, corner at the top of the central and lateral limbs, sharp and seldom straight. Bottom of the underside of the underside, green or lightly blurred in pink at the base. Slightly regular denture, in 1, 2 and sometimes 3 series, with almost large teeth, slightly marginal margins, medium-wide or narrow. Bunch: medium or even large, tight, semi-tight and rarely spatula for light, conical or cylindrical conic, often wormy and pyramidal, with a greenish sparse, short peduncle, medium thickness, semi-woody. Acino: medium size, sub-oval, sub-round and even round as indicated by other, regular cross-section, circular; Yellowish-golden peat and even slightly pale pink in full maturation and in the best exposures, medium-grain, semi-large and consistent; Slightly or almost obvious navel, mild or almost soft pulp, of simple flavor; Mid-length, slender and greenish stem, slightly blackish, small and greenish, medium or small, thin and yellow-green; Separation of the acine from the pedicle is not difficult.
Sortencharakteristische Merkmale In purity, the Nuragus offers light straw-colored wines with green veins. The olfactory range is expressed on floral tones, white flowers, and fruity, green apple, in addition to subtle nuances of citrus fruit. On the palate it is discreetly alcoholic, with a good fresh-sapid balance.
Noten Resistance to adversity: meteoric: maximum to spring frosts; To cryptogamic diseases: average to mildew and poor to ojio. In the ground, loose, fresh and deep, according to Mameli, seems to challenge the attack of phyloxera.
