| Geschichte |
t is an ancient vine spread mainly in the hills of Sinis, on the west coast of Sardinia. It was probably introduced to Sardinia by the Phoenicians who built the first colonies on the island between the VIII and VII centuries BC, establishing the town of Tharros on the southern tip of the Sinis peninsula. Cultivation is authorized in the areas of Cagliari, Nuoro and Oristano, but its spread is limited to small portions of the latter province, particularly in the areas of Cabras, Solanas and Nuraxinieddu. In Sardinian "Nieddu" means black, from which Nieddera, a black grape variety, very dark, which produces intense color wines. |

This grape produces a red-ruby intense wine that shows a fresh smell of red fruits and grass. The taste is fine and persistent. It can be tasted young but it's also suitable for a medium ageing. |
