The name "Vigna Il Cantico della Figura": from 2016 the term Vigna is added to make explicit that the wine is in Cru. While the name "Il Cantico della Figura" is seen as a composition of: "Il Cantico" and "della Figura". "La Figura" refers to the church of Apiro dedicated to the Madona della Misericordia, also called the Church of the Figure, because in Apiro, but not only, the small sanctuaries or votive niches containing small statues or frescoes of the Virgin Mary or other saints are called "figures" or "figurines". The Church of the Figure for the citizens of Apiro is a centre of devotion, visited in search of protection and help. So the name is a small tribute to the icon of our splendid territories. While "Il Cantico" is the element that links "La Figura" to the vineyard of St. Francis, being "Il Cantico delle Ceature" the most famous prayer of St. Francis ...Fratello Sole ... Sister Moon. |
