Castelvecchio Carso Terrano 2017
Known since Roman times with the name of Pucinum, the Terrano is considered a wine that is good for the health because of its iron content. It stands out for the exuberance of its malic acidity, the wild fragrances of raspberry and blackberry and the typical intense ruby red colour, with shades of violet, for the fact that it is bottled six to eight months after harvest, which allows it to express all of its typical traits. The limited tannin content and moderate alcohol content, albeit with considerable acidity, make it an averagely well-structured wine, ideal with cold cuts and typical dishes of the Karst plateau. If drunk young, this wine can also accompany fish with a high content in fat, especially eel.

Colour

Intense ruby red when young with violet rims; by maturing the color tones down.

Bouquet

Wild scents of black-berry, bilberry, wild-cherry and plums.

Flavour

Rather acid (for the presence of the malic acid in Terrano young) a bit metallic, exuberant and lively.

Pairing

The limited tannins and the moderate alcohol content, even if with a steady acidity, make of Terrano a wine that has an average ideal structure, appropriate for delicatessen and salted meat. When young, this wine is a perfect accompaniment to fat fishes.

The Karst is an area sometimes known only for the sad and bloody historical events of the First World War. But, in reality, it has always been an area suited for cultivating vines, olives and early fruit, thanks to this plateau's soil and climate pec...
