David Hirsch began planting his vineyard overlooking the Pacific Ocean in 1980, making it the oldest premium Pinot vineyard on the True Sonoma Coast. Between 1980 and 2001, the vineyard became one of the most sought-after sources for Pinot Noir grapes in California, providing fruit to Littorai, Williams Selyem, Kistler and many others.
In 2002, Hirsch began producing its own estate Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays under winemaker Vanessa Wong. In 2010, Ross Cobb took over the winemaking, followed by our current winemaker, Anthony Filiberti whose first vintage at Hirsch was 2016.
In 2011 we began the process of converting the vineyards to biodynamic viticulture. By 2014, all 72 acres of vines as well as our gardens and orchards were fully under biodynamic practice.
