Tenuta delle Terre Nere is located on the northern slope of the Etna volcano. The wines are produced from vineyards in three crus: Guardiola, Calderara and Feudo di Mezzo. The extremely special soil and climate conditions, together with the high altitude, make these wines similar to Burgundy or Barolo. Since the 2004 vintage, the company has been self-sufficient, and the grapes are vinified in the new cellars. The winery has been converting to organic farming since 2007. It has been officially certified since the 2010 vintage.
