Description

What type of wine it is

Le Vaglie is a still white wine by Santa Barbara, an expression of the Verdicchio grapes from the Marche region and the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico denomination. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, it offers an intense aromatic profile in the glass, where vibrant floral and citrus notes intertwine with delicate hints of white tea, apricot, candied lemon and quince. The tasting reveals a fresh and balanced structure, enriched by a marked savoury character that brings dynamism to the palate. The sip is distinguished by its enveloping smoothness, finishing with a long and typical almond finish embellished with pleasant herbaceous nuances.

Where it comes from

This wine is born among the hills of the Castelli di Jesi in the Marche, in the renowned Classico sub-zone. The vineyards thrive between 250 and 260 metres above sea level, benefiting from a south-east and east exposure which guarantees regular ripening of the grapes and a well-defined aromatic profile. The terroir is distinguished by its sandy tuff soils with a medium-density texture, essential for infusing a distinct saline sensation and a linear gustatory structure. In this well-suited landscape near Senigallia, Santa Barbara enhances the authentic identity of the territory.

How it is produced

The process begins with a careful mechanical harvest of the Verdicchio grapes. The must then undergoes fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, an essential phase for preserving the integrity of the fruit and the aromatic intensity. The cycle concludes with resting and ageing in steel, ideal for stabilising the sensory profile and ensuring freshness, cleanliness and a sharp gustatory precision on the palate.

History and interesting facts

The name Santa Barbara pays homage to our land, our tradition and those we worship. The history of this place dates back to the 6th century when Senigallia was a Byzantine city and a Lombardic (and therefore "barbarian") outpost was
set up in a nearby village. Since then, that village took the name of Barbara which is where our winery is located today, having the privilege of being housed in an old monastery.

Our winery is located 25 km from the Adriatic Sea and is located on the hills that run between the Misa and Nevola rivers. Here a team of professionals works in the winery and vineyards every day, fuelled by passion, determination and a pinch of creativity so that our grapes maintain their beauty and express the quality of our land.
