Description

What kind of wine it is

Primosic's Ribolla Gialla is a still white wine with a straw yellow colour, enhanced by delicate golden highlights. The bouquet opens with clear notes of apple and freshly cut hay, which over time develop into floral nuances of acacia. On the palate, it reveals a dry character with a slight citrus note, supported by vibrant freshness and a soft minerality. This balanced flavour profile makes it ideal for pairing with sushi and raw fish, elegantly complementing refined seafood starters and delicate first courses.

Where it comes from

The Ribolla Gialla grapes are grown in the Oslavia area, an outstanding region located in Venezia Giulia. In this corner of Friuli, the vines are cultivated using the simple arch training system, which ensures orderly management and optimal plant development. The distinctive feature of the area is the gravelly-limestone soil, characterised by a complex composition of pebbles, clay and flint. This particular geological matrix imparts a typical savoury note to the wine, perfectly in line with the winery's philosophy of enhancing the characteristics of the terroir.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a brief cold maceration on the skins, a key technique for delicately extracting the primary aromatic components of the grape. The bunches are then gently pressed, followed by static clarification to clarify the musts. The temperature-controlled fermentation takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks, a choice that preserves the fruit's integrity and the purity of the flavour profile. Served chilled, this wine offers immediate and elegant drinkability, while also possessing an ageing potential that allows its evolution to be appreciated over the years.

History and Curiosities

Founded in Oslavia in 1956, the Primosic estate seeks the perfect balance between the vine and its land. This vibrant 100% Ribolla Gialla expresses the authenticity of the Venezia Giulia IGT, drawing strength from a distinctive gravelly-limestone soil rich in pebbles, clay, and flint. Under the guidance of oenologist Marko Primosic, the company vinifies at controlled temperatures in steel to enhance a natural and soft minerality. The already award-winning 2024 vintage offers a still white wine of rare elegance, a true expression of its authentic vocation.

The relationship between these hills, their inhabitants and viticulture is an essential part of the history of this region, especially the Collio. The Primosic winery is a demonstration of this connection.

Primosic's attitude is to always push the quality limits necessary to carry out a project based on zones to ascertain the characteristics of the terroir and to find the perfect match for the vines. A philosophy of life in which Primosic strives to determine its expression of wine with the characteristic balance between vine and terroir.

Today Sylvester Primosic is supported by his two sons, Boris as CFO and cellar coordinator, while Marko, managing director, oversees the export and marketing aspects.
