Description
What kind of wine is it
Dr. L.O. Riesling Zero Removed is a de-alcoholised white wine that expresses the essence of Riesling in a light and refreshing style. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour with greenish highlights, which hints at a clean and fragrant aromatic profile. On the nose, clear aromas of pineapple and mango emerge. On the palate, it is fruity and rounded, characterised by an easy-drinking and smooth nature that preserves the typical qualities of the original grape variety.
Where does it come from
This white wine originates from the renowned Mosel region in Germany, one of the world’s most famous areas for the cultivation of white grape varieties. The Dr. Loosen winery has been dedicated to viticulture in this prestigious river valley for over two centuries, continuing a long family tradition. Under the guidance of Ernst Loosen, the company has focused on maximising the expression of the terroir, preserving the semi-aromatic character of the fruit to offer an alternative that remains true to its geographical roots.
How is it produced
The grapes are vinified to produce a still white wine, which is then subjected to a delicate dealcoholisation process. This technique removes the alcohol content while maintaining the original flavour and the delicate balance of taste and aroma. It shows its pleasant freshness best when served at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice to accompany aperitifs and light dishes, creating harmonious pairings with fish-based recipes, white meats and fresh cheeses.
History and Curiosities
For over two centuries, the Loosen family has been cultivating Riesling in the Moselle-Saar-Ruwer region. Under the leadership of Ernst “Erni” Loosen since 1988, the historic estate has experienced a significant revival. The result of this evolution is the Dr. L.O. Riesling Zero Removed, an excellent pure dealcoholised Riesling that perfectly preserves the semi-aromatic character of the grape variety. With an alcohol content of less than 0.5% vol, this 0.75 l still white wine represents a refined modern alternative to enjoy the renowned German tradition.
