Description
What kind of wine it is
Biancammare by Barraco is an organic white wine made from Grillo grapes, an authentic expression of the Sicilian lands. On the nose, it offers clear floral and fruity notes, while on the palate it stands out for its pronounced iodised and briny savouriness, accompanied by vibrant acidity. The twenty-four hour skin maceration imparts a pleasant structural softness, outlining an excellent mineral profile that pairs beautifully with oysters, raw seafood and soft cheeses such as ricotta.
Where it comes from
This white wine is produced in Marsala, from vineyards located just thirty metres from the shoreline. The red soils rich in limestone give the sip a deep mineral imprint. The maritime microclimate is characterised by the constant blowing of the Scirocco and Mistral winds over the vines. The connection between the coastal ecosystem, influenced by the presence of Posidonia oceanica, and the proximity to the sea shapes the identity of this wine, a true example of coastal viticulture deeply rooted in its place of origin.
How it is produced
The Grillo grapes, cultivated using the Guyot training system, are harvested at the beginning of August. In the winery, the must ferments in contact with the skins in steel tanks to extract the deepest essence of the fruit. The subsequent maturation in stainless steel continues until March, preserving the agility and aromatic precision of the wine until bottling. A careful vinification method that brings all the energy and freshness of the Sicilian coastline to the glass.
