Description
What type of wine it is
Piere Sauvignon Blanc from Vie di Romans is a still white wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, belonging to the Friuli Isonzo designation. Vinified in steel and aged on the lees, it releases clear aromas of pineapple, yellow peach, passion fruit and pink grapefruit on the nose. The palate proves vigorous and elegant, supported by a pleasant minerality and perfectly integrated acidity. Ideal for accompanying pasta dishes, it demonstrates significant potential for evolution, allowing it to become even richer over the years.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the municipality of Mariano del Friuli, within the renowned Friuli Isonzo area. The vines, trained using simple Guyot, grow on medium-deep and well-drained soil, characterised by a moderate stony fraction. The intense clayey and siliceous fraction, enriched by conglomerates, along with a north-south exposure at thirty-three metres above sea level, ensures an ideal microclimate. These conditions give the wine a marked savouriness and profound structural harmony.
How it is produced
Following the late-August harvest, vinification begins with a cold pellicular maceration aimed at optimising aroma extraction. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks for eighteen days; the decision to avoid malolactic fermentation allows the natural freshness of the fruit to be preserved. The wine's structure is consolidated thanks to ageing on the lees for eight months and a period of rest in the bottle. This final step encourages natural clarification, giving absolute precision in the glass.
