Description
What kind of wine it is
Pizzicanti is a sparkling white wine by Tenute Orestiadi, an authentic expression of the Sicilian lands. The result of a blend of Catarratto Bianco Comune and Grillo, it presents a pale yellow colour enriched with golden hues. The bouquet offers a nose where tropical fruit intertwines with floral notes, outlining a pronounced Mediterranean character. On the palate, it reveals a fragrant style, supported by a lively effervescence and excellent freshness, finishing with a delicate savouriness.
Where it comes from
This white originates in the Belìce Valley, in the territory of Gibellina, where the Sicilian agricultural landscape coexists with myth and art. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 250 and 330 metres, ideal conditions for preserving the integrity of the aromatic profile. The vines sink their roots into black earth silty-clay soils, compact and naturally resistant to drought. This geological matrix plays a key role in defining the wine’s savoury character and persistence on the palate.
How it is produced
Production involves a refermentation in autoclave at low temperature for about two months, an ideal method to enhance the aromas and achieve harmonious sparkle. This is followed by a further two months of ageing on the lees, essential for consolidating the balance of flavour. The name, which in the local dialect means “lively”, perfectly reflects the vibrant soul of this wine. Served chilled, it is ideal for elegant aperitifs and pairs beautifully with fish dishes.
