Description
What kind of wine it is
Le Vaglie by Santa Barbara is a still white wine that masterfully interprets the essence of Verdicchio. It presents a bright straw yellow colour, enhanced by subtle golden reflections. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet, characterised by floral and citrus aromas that blend with notes of white tea, apricot and candied lemon. On the palate, it expresses freshness and smoothness, maintaining an impeccable balance between structure and liveliness. The sip finishes with a typically almondy aftertaste, enriched by delicate vegetal and herbal notes that provide a pleasant persistence.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the hills of the Castelli di Jesi, in the heart of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico area. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 250 and 260 metres, with north-east and south-east exposures that favour balanced ripening and a well-defined aromatic profile. The composition of the sandy tuffaceous soil defines the character of the wine, giving it clarity and a distinct savoury imprint. In this ideal environment, Santa Barbara enhances the authentic identity of the Marche region.
How it is produced
Production begins with precise mechanical harvesting. Afterwards, the grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, kept between 10 and 12 degrees to preserve the original integrity and aromatic richness of the fruit. The subsequent ageing in stainless steel allows the sensory profile of the wine to stabilise, ensuring clarity of taste before bottling, which takes place in a protected atmosphere to maintain quality unaltered.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1992 with the aim of breaking the mould, Le Vaglie celebrates the noble winemaking tradition of the Marche region. This Verdicchio by Santa Barbara stands out for its innovative spirit: on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary in 2012, the winery complemented the classic white label with five colourful labels featuring abstract designs. A fascinating stylistic intuition that has captivated enthusiasts for years, transforming each bottle into an exclusive collectable work of art capable of enhancing the vibrant and unmistakable soul of an extraordinary wine.
