Description

What kind of wine it is

San Simone Pinot Grigio Ramato Case Sugan is a wine with a coppery colour and onion skin reflections, reminiscent of the Friulian style of the 1970s. Made from Pinot Grigio grapes, it is a refined expression of the Friuli Grave region. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of redcurrant, raspberry and apricot, enriched by notes of rose and pomegranate. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, supported by a subtle tannic texture. The finish offers excellent savoury persistence, making it ideal to accompany fried fish, oily fish and white meats.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the municipality of Porcia, in the western area of Friuli Grave. The vines grow on alluvial soil, calcareous and sandy with silty-clay sediments, which gives the wine's structure a pronounced saline drive. The vineyards are cultivated using the spur cordon method, maintaining low yields to ensure high concentration and a clear varietal expression of the fruit.

How it is produced

Production involves an overnight maceration on the skins for fourteen hours, a fundamental step to achieve the characteristic coppery hue and greater tactile consistency. This is followed by ageing in stainless steel for four months, aimed at preserving the varietal freshness of the aromas. The process concludes with a three-month rest in the bottle, which refines the structure and balances the firmer components, resulting in a satisfying, defined and elegantly full sip.

History and Curiosities

San Simone was founded in Friuli by a family that has always believed in the extraordinary enological potential of its land and has more than hundred years of experience in wine-making. A family, four generations: a story full of dynamic and resolute characters. These were the talents of our great-grandfather and founder Gino Brisotto, who at the beginning of the last century with our great grandmother Olga, gave the first decisive impulse to the activity later followed by our grandparents, Antonio and Angela with perseverance and confidence to strengthened it.

Later on handed over to our parents, Gino and Liviana convinced that to grow and improve we must always be open to change, which gave birth to a new production project: San Simone. An adventure that started from the historical Brisotto cellars, in Prata and later shifted to the new premises in Porcia, where the company accelerated its pace on the road to quality. This project aims to handle with care even a minimum detail, from the vineyard to the bottle.

At the Concours Mondial Bruxelles, our Prosecco Doc Brut Millesimato Perlae Naonis 2021 was awarded the Gold Medal.
