Description
What kind of wine it is
Manna by Franz Haas is a still white wine from the Vigneti delle Dolomiti in Trentino Alto Adige, with an intense golden yellow colour, characterised by a fresh and elegant style and vinified in barrels and steel tanks. This complex and layered blend combines Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Kerner, offering an aromatic bouquet defined by notes of elderflower, pistachio and rose petals. On the palate, it reveals an enveloping structure and a distinct mineral imprint, ensuring remarkable longevity and continuous sensory evolution in the glass. It proves ideal for accompanying Japanese cuisine, creating harmonious pairings with sushi, sashimi, lean fish and cheeses.
Where it comes from
This cuvée originates in the Trentino Alto Adige region, enhancing the expressiveness of the Vigneti delle Dolomiti area. The vines grow at altitudes between 350 and 800 metres above sea level, benefiting from a south-west exposure that favours full ripening of the grapes. The soils are distinguished by a dolomitic, porphyritic, sandy and marly composition, imparting great gustatory tension and aromatic precision. Created by Franz Haas as a tribute to Maria Luisa, the wine reflects the vocation of an excellent mountain terroir, capable of maintaining its profile intact over time.
How it is produced
The grapes are harvested and processed at different times to respect the perfect degree of ripeness of each variety. Chardonnay and Sauvignon ferment in barrels, gaining volume and softness, while Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Kerner ferment in steel tanks to preserve the integrity of their aromas. The wines are then blended to undergo ageing on fine lees for about ten months, which is essential to give cohesion to the flavour profile. The process concludes with a final period of rest, useful for perfecting the harmony of the sensory profile.
History and Curiosities
Created in 1995 as a tribute to Maria Luisa, Manna is the signature cuvée of Franz Haas, the result of a constant pursuit of excellence that has continued since 1880. This Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT is made from grapes grown between 350 and 800 metres above sea level. Its refined blend, enriched since 2013 with the introduction of Kerner, is enhanced by careful ageing on the lees. Such attention gives it evolutionary longevity, gradually transforming its golden yellow notes into a deep gold over time.
