Description

What kind of wine it is

Collio Friulano by Doro Princic is a still white wine with Denomination of Controlled Origin from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, vinified and matured in stainless steel, with a straw yellow colour with golden reflections, made from Friulano grapes, a variety also known as Sauvignon Vert. On the nose, it offers a clear profile dominated by aromatic herbs, eucalyptus, liquorice and mint. On the palate, it is dry and warm, boasting a pleasant softness balanced by freshness. The sip is intense and persistent, finishing with the typical almondy aftertaste that characterises this variety.

Where it comes from

This white wine originates from vineyards trained using the Guyot system in Cormons, within the renowned Collio area. The vines sink their roots into marl and sandstone soils, a geological matrix essential for ensuring the wine has a clear varietal definition and a well-defined structure. This combination of soil and climate guarantees a perfectly balanced flavour profile. This strong territorial identity is reflected in an excellent capacity for evolution, giving the wine a longevity of between five and ten years.

How it is produced

After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing to protect the must. Fermentation in stainless steel takes place at 19°C, followed by storage in the same containers to ensure absolute aromatic purity. Gastronomically versatile, this white pairs beautifully with fish starters and seafood grills. Its structural balance also matches perfectly with herb omelettes and delicate cheeses, enhancing dishes without overpowering their flavours.

History and Curiosities

In the heart of Cormons, Doro Princic's Friulano expresses the winemaking essence of the Gorizia region. Born from vineyards cultivated on marl and sandstone, this Collio DOC is made from hand-harvested grapes. Oenologist Alessandro Princic oversees its vinification in stainless steel. With an ageing potential of up to ten years, it embodies the vocation of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
