Description

What kind of wine it is

Manzoni Bianco Nina produced by Ca’ di Rajo is a white wine from Veneto that expresses the identity of the Piave region. Made from Manzoni Bianco grapes, it appears in the glass with a bright straw yellow colour. The aromatic profile reveals clear notes of pineapple, ripe apricot and peach blossom, enhanced by delicate hints of wisteria. On the palate, it stands out for its full-bodied structure, well balanced by excellent freshness. The sip finishes with a long and persistent aftertaste, characterised by a pleasant mineral streak.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from vineyards located in San Polo di Piave and neighbouring municipalities, about thirty metres above sea level. This specific terroir is characterised by clay and sandy soils with gravel outcrops, a natural composition that gives the wine its typical gustatory tension. The vines are trained using the ancient Bellussèra system, alongside the Sylvoz double inverted technique. The particular climate favours regular ripening, allowing the production of fruit with remarkable aromatic concentration.

How it is produced

The manual harvest selects grapes that are slightly overripe on the vine at the beginning of October. This is followed by gentle pressing and a cold maceration on the skins for ten hours to optimally extract the aromas. Vinification in steel excludes malolactic fermentation, preserving the natural liveliness of the grape variety. The wine matures for nine months on fine lees, with partial ageing in oak barrels to acquire breadth and complexity.

History and Curiosities

In the heart of the Piave DOC, NINA comes to life from historic vineyards in San Polo di Piave, cultivated using the ancient Bellussèra training system. Another distinctive feature of this wine is the use of Incrocio Manzoni Bianco 6.0.13, historically created from the union of Pinot Bianco and Riesling Renano, which finds its ideal expression in this terroir.

Founded in 2005 thanks to the experience of the Cecchetto family, wine producers since 1931, the Ca’ di Rajo winery is run by brothers Simone, Alessio and Fabio; it has a production capacity of 3 million litres, 1.4 of which are potential in autoclaves (during harvest, part of the must is cold stored; with this procedure, it can be used on sparkling wine bases to refresh the wines).

The company uses the most innovative winemaking technologies, however, its modern facility and young team are located in a fascinating historical context, in an estate located within a medieval village. Symbols of the glorious past of the countryside that extends from Conegliano to Oderzo, the Chiesetta del Carmine, the neighboring Casa Convento and the Tower of Rai from the 14th century, stand next to a modern designed winery.

Ca' di Rajo has the great pleasure of communicating the awarding of diplomas by 5star wines to three of its best-loved wines, namely: 90 points to Valdobbiadene prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry, 90 points to Iconema Tai Piave DOC and 93 points to Torchiato di Fregona.
