Description

Still red from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Friuli Grave DOC, 13.5% ABV, produced by San Simone. 0.75 l bottle, 2022 vintage. A Merlot Riserva that expresses the excellence of Friulian winemaking, with careful grape selection and extensive aging. San Simone was born in Friuli from a family that has always believed in the extraordinary winemaking potential of their land and boasts over a hundred years of experience in winemaking. Destemming is followed by approximately 20 days of fermentation on the skins in stainless steel fermenters at a controlled temperature (26-28°C). After racking, fermentation continues in small oak barrels where it ages for approximately 18 months. Maturation continues for 6-2 months in steel tanks before bottling. Aged in bottle for 6 months. Intense and complex, centered on fruity and spicy notes, it presents a rich bouquet ranging from blackberry jam and cherries in alcohol, from cloves and black pepper to chocolate. A deep ruby red in color with purple highlights. Full-bodied and intense, rounded and harmonious, it boasts a robust tannic structure and displays a freshness that blends beautifully with soft notes. Perfectly matching the nose, it is velvety and savory; the finish is persistent and closes with notes of fruit and spice.

San Simone was founded in Friuli by a family that has always believed in the extraordinary enological potential of its land and has more than hundred years of experience in wine-making. A family, four generations: a story full of dynamic and resolute characters. These were the talents of our great-grandfather and founder Gino Brisotto, who at the beginning of the last century with our great grandmother Olga, gave the first decisive impulse to the activity later followed by our grandparents, Antonio and Angela with perseverance and confidence to strengthened it.

Later on handed over to our parents, Gino and Liviana convinced that to grow and improve we must always be open to change, which gave birth to a new production project: San Simone. An adventure that started from the historical Brisotto cellars, in Prata and later shifted to the new premises in Porcia, where the company accelerated its pace on the road to quality. This project aims to handle with care even a minimum detail, from the vineyard to the bottle.

At the Concours Mondial Bruxelles, our Prosecco Doc Brut Millesimato Perlae Naonis 2021 was awarded the Gold Medal.
