Description
What kind of wine it is
Monlia Timorasso Derthona by Oddero is a refined still white wine from Piedmont, made from the Timorasso grape variety. It displays a bright straw yellow colour with golden hues. The intriguing and complex bouquet opens with intense notes of pineapple, white peach and mandarin, followed by elegant hints of orange blossom, aromatic herbs and a finish of hazelnut. On the palate, it offers an enveloping sip distinguished by a perfect fresh-savoury balance, confirming a bold character and a captivating mineral undertone. Ideally served between twelve and fourteen degrees, it reveals remarkable ageing potential.
Where it comes from
This label originates in the municipality of Monleale, in the Alessandria area, within the prestigious Colli Tortonesi Derthona zone. The wine is the result of the exclusive Monlia project, born from the synergy between the Oddero family and the owners of a renowned estate in La Morra. This collaboration aims to enhance the identity of the Piedmontese territory, creating a precise and recognisable stylistic expression. The result is a white wine that faithfully reflects the unique pedoclimatic characteristics of the area, ensuring aromatic intensity well balanced by a deep mineral imprint linked to the soil.
How it is produced
The Timorasso grapes come from a single plot of about one and a half hectares, cultivated with the utmost care. Agronomic and oenological management is entrusted to Mariacristina Oddero and Luca Veglio, who are committed to preserving maximum aromatic clarity and expressive purity. The vinification process aims to enhance the grape's natural savouriness, making it extremely versatile for pairings. This white wine elegantly accompanies structured dishes such as agnolotti with butter and sage, fine raw meat tartare and goat's cheeses. A wine that promises to age beautifully, ensuring a splendid evolution over time.

The history of today’s winery is inextricably tied to that of Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926 and grandson of the first Giacomo in the family (whom he was named after). Under Giacomo’s guidance, Poderi e Cantine Oddero took on its current productive configuration, extending vineyard property, increasing bottle production, and upholding a high quality that today is recognized worldwide.
The legacy of Giacomo Oddero is carried on today by his daughter Mariacristina, who entered the family business near the end of the 1990s, and grandchildren Isabella and Pietro, who represent the seventh generation of a family with over a century and a half of vinicultural tradition behind them.
