Description
Wine Type
Aurente Chardonnay di Torgiano, by Lungarotti, is a still white wine from Umbria born from a carefully curated blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto. Produced under the Torgiano Denominazione di Origine Controllata and fermented in oak barrels, it reveals a broad olfactory profile where tropical fruit and sage stand out, accompanied by delicate woody notes. On the palate, it shows remarkable structure and smoothness, balanced by a lively acidic tension. The tasting concludes with a persistent fruity finish, enhanced by a slightly bitter touch that lends dynamism to every sip.
Origin
The grapes grow on the slopes of Brufa, in the Umbrian territory of Torgiano. The vineyards are located on mid-slope hills, rooted in loose, sandy soils resting on deep limestone layers—essential conditions for fostering high quality and a distinct acidity. Agronomic management maintains strictly limited yields to enhance the fruit's properties. The rows are trained using double Guyot for the Grechetto and double spurred cordon for the Chardonnay, supporting perfect aromatic ripening.
Production Process
The process begins with a meticulous manual harvest, followed by very soft pressing and a brief cryomaceration. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature, avoiding malolactic fermentation to preserve a fresh and linear character. The wine then matures on the fine lees with weekly bâtonnage, acquiring further complexity before being transferred to stainless steel tanks. The cycle is completed with a final resting period aimed at stabilising its expressive richness.
