Description
What kind of wine it is
Lucente is a still red wine that fully expresses the character of Tuscany, born from a harmonious blend of Merlot and Sangiovese. To the eye, it presents an intense and brilliant red colour, enriched by vivid violet reflections. The bouquet is distinguished by its clarity, releasing enveloping scents of wild berries and jam, accompanied by delicate hints of tobacco and a light spicy note. On the palate, it reveals a full body, where the silky and well-integrated tannins provide a pleasant roundness, leading the tasting towards a persistent finish enriched by a measured toasted note.
Where it comes from
This wine is produced in Montalcino under the auspices of the Luce estate. Its creation is the result of a joint project between Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, aimed at enhancing the excellence of the Tuscan territory through meticulous agronomic care. The vines grow in an ideal pedoclimatic context, ensuring perfect ripening of the grapes. This synergy between soil and expertise translates into a marked gastronomic vocation: the sip is indeed perfect for accompanying dishes based on red meats and game, as well as structured first courses and selections of mature cheeses.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in September, respecting the ripening times of each variety. The process begins with fermentation in stainless steel, carried out at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the primary aromas. This is followed by a maceration on the skins of about twenty days, essential for extracting colour and structure, and the completion of malolactic fermentation. The wine then undergoes ageing in barrels for twelve months, using partially new wood to soften its texture. To best appreciate its nuances, it is recommended to decant it about an hour before serving.
History and Curiosities
Born from the historic meeting in Montalcino between Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, Lucente Toscana Rosso IGT skilfully combines local tradition and international excellence. The 2023 vintage perfectly harmonises Merlot and Sangiovese, maturing for twelve months in barriques to achieve a magnificent roundness. The result is an enveloping wine, enriched with intense notes of wild berries, tobacco and delicate toasted nuances. Its silky tannins and critically acclaimed profile enhance every pairing.

From that meeting a wine was born, inspired by an ambitious project and linked to one of Tuscany's election territories for the production of outstanding wines. The project consisted in creating a wine in Montalcino that would go beyond the boundaries of tradition, without denying it, by drawing on the experience of two historical families in the world of wine.
The dream took shape in Tenuta Luce, a name that evokes the light of the Montalcino sun, which is the source of life and nourishment, which marks the passage of the seasons and gives rhythm to every agricultural activity.
Since then, Tenuta Luce has always honoured this vision, and the estate's flagship wine, Luce, has been joined by other exclusive wines, capable of transcending the boundaries of their own territory, earning unanimous acclaim internationally. Read more
