Description
A still red wine from Tuscany IGT, produced by Isole e Olena, 2022 vintage. 100% Sangiovese. A wine that embodies Paolo de Marchi's passion and dedication, a tribute to Sangiovese and the Tuscan terroir. It matures for 18 months in French and American oak barriques, then ages for another year in the bottle. Aromas of cherry, black cherry, and blackcurrant, along with hints of bitter chocolate, set against a spicy background. Ruby red in color, tending toward violet. The tannins are rough, and the acidity is still crisp but well-balanced. The finish is dry, recalling the opening fruit. The finish is medium-long.

The wines have Cepparello at their head, a barrique-aged Sangiovese classified as an IGT - because at the time of its creation in the 1980s a wine comprising 100% Sangiovese could not legally be labelled as Chianti. There is a Chianti Classico and a Vin Santo, as well as some excellent wines from the Collezione de Marchi label, including a Syrah called Eremo, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay. Read more

Spontaneous fermentation is preferred, with natural yeasts, reserving inoculation for particularly difficult seasons, with extreme temperatures or excessively wet and rainy weather. |
