Description

From the beautiful ruby-colored robe with purple of obvious consistency. Wide and deep aristocratic bouquet of purple, pink, cherry, blackberry and raspberry, sweet spice, eucalyptus and coffee, with hints of wild berries and graphite. Certainly the impact of those confusing and involve: persuasive for refinement, soundness, manners, way. You will be amazed to mark with absolute correspondence previously received the aromas, remarkably balanced, despite the exuberance. The persistence is very red, very long, interminable and very pleasant. A classic refined

  • Start up year: 1956
  • Oenologist: Paolo De Marchi
  • Bottles produced: 220.000
  • Hectares: 56
This estate, run by Paolo de Marchi, is yet another that has seen a dramatic rise in quality over the last few decades. Paolo's family, originally from Piedmont, purchased the estate in the 1960s. His attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery was the driving force that turned quality around. Experience working a vintage or two in California helped, but no doubt the input received from oenological consultant Donato Lanati has also been of significance.

The wines have Cepparello at their head, a barrique-aged Sangiovese classified as an IGT - because at the time of its creation in the 1980s a wine comprising 100% Sangiovese could not legally be labelled as Chianti. There is a Chianti Classico and a Vin Santo, as well as some excellent wines from the Collezione de Marchi label, including a Syrah called Eremo, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay.
