From this winery
Tenuta Ammiraglia lies in the heart of the Maremma, amidst vineyards that paint evocative geometries and hills that lap the nearby Tyrrhenian coast.

It is in this land of Tuscany warmed by the sun and mitigated by the sea breeze that the Tenuta Ammiraglia of the Frescobaldi family was born. It is home to an area of great potential for the production of high quality wines, as well as undoubted natural beauty, so fascinating and still unspoilt.

The estate's signature wine cellar originates from a project by Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenon and today represents a temple of design at the service of wine production of the highest quality, with an eye always turned towards respect for the surrounding environment.

Tenuta Ammiraglia in fact means Tuscan wine known throughout the world and produced with great respect for the Tuscan wine-making tradition, without ever forgetting innovation and attention to the future of the sector.

Story The secret of Aurea lies in the combination of territorial characteristics, vineyard management and, of course, the human factor. Aurea was born where proximity to the sea is combined with a vineyard management process typical of white varieties and a white production process for Syrah as well. Its unmistakable elegance, combined with a full body, is the result of meticulous attention in the vineyard and cellar. From the vineyard to the cellar, attention to detail is paramount.
Harvest Manual. The grapes were harvested by hand with scrupulous and rigorous selection of the bunches, starting at the crack of dawn and always during the coolest hours of the day.
Wine making Once harvested, the grapes were quickly transported to the cellar where careful and painstaking work began. The bunches loaded into the press whole and in the absence of oxygen were meticulously controlled. The pressures applied during this phase were the softest and gentlest, so as not to stress the berries; this process, together with the careful selection of the musts and their subsequent decanting for no less than 12 hours, made it possible to eliminate any less elegant vegetable components. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature (16°C) in 600 l French oak tonneaux, medium toasted and 20% new.
Aging At the end of this period, the two varieties were blended, followed by a period of ageing on fine fermentation lees for 8 months. At a later stage, a small selection of Syrah vinified in white from the previous harvest (Vin de Reserve) was added and aged in barrels for 20 months.
