Description
What kind of wine it is
Federico Graziani's Rosso di Mezzo is an elegant still Etna Rosso. It displays a transparent, bright ruby colour, revealing aromas of fresh small red fruits accompanied by citrus notes of mandarin, sweet spices and incense. On the palate, it offers a smooth and graceful drinkability, supported by light and lively tannins that lead the sip towards a complex finish, ideal for accompanying structured meals.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the Cubito parcel in the Feudo di Mezzo district in Passopisciaro. The vineyards are situated at six hundred metres altitude on the northern slopes of Etna, sheltered from the hot sirocco winds. The century-old pre-phylloxera vines and those reproduced by massal selection benefit from significant temperature variations. This climate ensures a prolonged ripening, giving great precision to the fruit while fully respecting the faithfulness to the parcel of origin.
How it is produced
Production aims to enhance delicate grapes, vinified to preserve their subtle profile. The process is based on spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, following a minimal intervention approach. The twenty-four month ageing takes place between steel and barrels, maintaining a deep connection with the vineyard. The result is an Etna Rosso with clear natural elegance and an extremely clean fruity expression.
History and Curiosities
Rosso di Mezzo encapsulates the essence of a single vineyard located in the Cubito plot, in Passopisciaro. Situated at 600 metres above sea level, the historic pre-phylloxera vines are sheltered from warm winds and benefit from significant temperature variations, which impart great complexity to the fruit. Federico Graziani enhances this terroir through spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, respecting the natural elegance of the raw material. The 24-month maturation, between steel and fine tonneaux, gives rise to a vibrant wine, with fine tannins and a graceful drinkability.

For the past 2000 years, people here have been growing vineyards in small plots of land reclaimed from the mountain, living in symbiosis with the volcano and adapting to the power and unpredictability of its elements. This is slow and ancient work, carried out by hand with toil, passion, and respect. Read more
