Description
What type of wine it is
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Arsicci from Fattoria Nanni is an organic white wine with a controlled designation of origin from the Marche region, obtained from a blend of Verdicchio and Trebbiano, with fermentation and ageing in stainless steel. It is distinguished by a crisp aromatic profile, characterised by notes of green apple, wild plum and delicate hints of almond. On the palate, it expresses a vibrant savoury freshness, enriched by elegant herbal notes of calamint and burnet, leading into a mineral and balsamic finish. Its distinct acidity makes it perfect for accompanying fish dishes, shellfish, sushi and cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Arsicci, in the heart of the Marche, from fifty-year-old vines cultivated at four hundred and fifty metres altitude. The predominantly calcareous soil and the Mediterranean climate, free from thermal extremes, ensure a regular and harmonious ripening of the bunches. The combination of the altitude and the calcareous matrix of the soil gives the sip a recognisable savoury tension, faithfully reflecting the natural viticultural vocation of the territory.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a manual harvest of whole bunches, followed by rapid overnight cooling. Subsequent pressing is carried out without destemming and in the total absence of oxygen to protect the integrity of the bouquet. Fermentation and subsequent ageing in stainless steel on the fine lees last for approximately three months. This technical choice provides significant aromatic complexity, enhancing the fragrance and original purity of the fruit.
History and curiosities
Born in 1967 from the first vines planted by Gianni Piersigilli in Arsicci, this organic Verdicchio is an authentic tribute to tradition. Today, oenologist Roberto Cantori looks after these fifty-year-old old vines in the heart of the Marche region. The combination of calcareous soils, the Mediterranean microclimate and expert artisanal care gives life to a wine of excellence, awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso, capable of embodying the authentic and sustainable soul of the region.

"Where I come from there is a mountain that protects the valley and the castles around it. It’s nice to have a little peak in the distance, sharply peaked on one side, a crooked turtle dome, and acting as your beacon when you don’t have the sea. It’s called Monte San Vicino and it also looks beautiful over a large vineyard, and guards it, in the Apiro countryside. From this vineyard was born the wine of the young Fattoria Nannì, all painted by Nina, a green balcony to a lighthouse that is shaped like a rock, and that has been telling us since we were little what the weather will be, what colour the sky will be, all that you can see and not see, and which way you will find the moon."
