The nose at first is expressive and open. I detect yellow fruits such as apricot and mirabelle as well as spices such as coriander. After aeration, the aromas are confirmed.

Colore

Color

The wine has a robe of honey yellow colour with reflections of old gold.

Gusto

On the palate, the onset is clear and generous. The taste perception is structured by a present and round smoothness that remains palatable because of a continuing linear freshness.

From this winery
  • Start up year: 1810
The family of Schlumberger comes from Souabe, a German region today a part of Bade Wurtemberg. Claus Schlumberger was the first to settle in Guebwiller in the XVI century under the period of the monks “The Princes Abbés”. As he couldn’t bare the domination of the monks, he moved to Mulhouse, a free and protestant town.

At his death, several Schlumberger family members came from Souabe to settle in Mulhouse. Like Claus himself most of them were tanners. Several generations followed one another and in the XVII Century Schlumberger was one of the biggest families in Mulhouse.

After the disease of phyloxera has destroyed the whole vineyard, Ernest replanted it and took the advantage in buying more plots. He then enlargened the vineyard from 40 hectares to 110 hectares. He also adopted the horizontally planting system. His daughter Anne married Roger Koch. She has 4 children. Clarisse, the second daughter married Jean Beydon: they have 3 sons.

Vendor Domaines Schlumberger
Story Christine Schlumberger (1894 971) looked with talent and firmness after the management of Domaines Schlumberger during nearly twenty years. The Late Harvest (Vendanges Tardives - appellation since 1984) are wines harvested in overmaturity, several weeks after the harvest. Contrary to certain types of sweet wines, they maintain a freshness and natural acidity with a flavour that is unique in the world.
Origin Guebwiller (France)
Harvest By hand from our steep vineyards, the grapes are then transported in small crates (to prevent the berries from getting crushed) to our winery where they are then slowly pressed.
Wine making After racking for about 3 days, the perfectly clear juices are put to ferment in tuns where the temperature is strictly controlled. Fermentations last from 1 to 3 months until spring.
Total acidity 3.62 gr/L
Residual sugar 60.1 gr/L
Allergens Contains sulphites
