Description
What kind of wine it is
Eugene Klipfel Alsace Riesling is a still, dry white wine produced by Domaine Klipfel in France. Made exclusively from Riesling grapes, it expresses a fresh style with a semi-aromatic profile and a well-defined mineral character. On the nose, it offers delicate floral notes intertwined with hints of green apple, grapefruit and citrus. On the palate, it is balanced and intense, supported by a lively acidity that balances a slight softness, leading to a long and refreshing finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from Barr, in the heart of Alsace. The area's cool climate and the composition of the soils, characterised by a strong presence of schist, give the Riesling a pronounced acidic backbone and remarkable gustatory finesse. These specific pedoclimatic conditions favour a taut and clean expression of the grape variety, enhancing its clear aromas. Domaine Klipfel tends these vineyards, continuing a family history that began in 1824, deeply connected to the vocation of the land.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest, followed by careful vinification. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, a technical choice essential to preserve the natural aromas and the elegance of the palate. The entire process deliberately avoids the use of barrels to maintain a clear approach, focused on aromatic precision. The wine presents a straw yellow colour with golden highlights, offering a crisp and very clean taste development.

They were amongst the first to start producing « Vendanges Tardives » (late harvests) and « Sélection de Grains Nobles » (selection of noble grapes) as soon as 1921 on the Clos Zisser and on the Kirchberg of Barr, more than sixty years before the official appellation of these two vineyards. Further developed by André Lorentz (former member of the Académie du vin de France, the renowned Academy of French wines), the family business is today run by Jean-Louis Lorentz-Klipfel as well as by his daughters Anne-Sophie, Marie and Amélie.
