Chateau du Grand Plantier

A family property since 1913, Château Grand Plantier is located in Samonac in the heart of the AOC Côtes de Bourg. We are the 3rd and 4th generation to work the vines planted on these slopes. In recent years, as the vines have aged, we have been trying to replant each plot by plot with new vines.

The Côtes de Bourg are characterised by the diversity and richness of their soils, they are generally clay-limestone. We use clay calcosols, derived from marl or carbonate molasses (oligocene and eocene) as well as limestone colluviosols (quaternary). A terroir is not only soil but also an adequacy with a climate, in Bourgeais, the Atlantic influence is of course very present, but to this is added a regulation of temperature and rainfall by the proximity of the estuary.
