Description
What kind of wine it is
Lugana San Benedetto by Zenato is a still white wine from Veneto with controlled designation of origin, vinified in steel. Made from Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, it stands out for its dry, fresh and velvety profile. On the palate, it reveals a caressing texture balanced by lively acidity, which enhances fruity notes of apple, peach and citrus, enriched by subtle hints of vanilla. The finish is characterised by a long persistence, resulting in a clean and extremely balanced wine.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located in the moraine amphitheatre south of Lake Garda, situated between the areas of Peschiera and Desenzano. The chalky-clay soils give the wine a rounded structure and distinctive savouriness. Situated at an altitude between sixty and eighty metres, the vines benefit from the mild lake microclimate, which allows for optimal ripening while preserving the freshness of the grapes. This area is one of the historic hearts of the renowned Lugana region.
How it is produced
Production begins with a manual harvest carried out between the end of September and the beginning of October. The bunches undergo a gentle pressing, followed by fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature between sixteen and twenty degrees. This process, which lasts about fifteen to twenty days, allows the fragrance of the fruit to be preserved intact. Ageing takes place for four or five months in steel tanks, followed by a period of rest before release, ensuring a harmonious structural balance.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1960 on the shores of Lake Garda, the Zenato winery selects the finest grapes for this white wine in the morainic amphitheatre between Peschiera and Desenzano. The vineyards, located near the historic Villa di Catullo, produce a pure Lugana DOC, a prestigious designation recognised since 1967. This refined limited production from the San Benedetto estate celebrates the authentic spirit and vocation of an extraordinary region.

1960 – San Benedetto di Lugana. It’s here that the heart of Sergio Zenato started to beat. His story is made of passion and hard work; a deep connection to his land and his people; entrepreneurial ability and openness to innovation and new vinification techniques and investment in native grape varieties.
A story that stretches from the banks of Lake Garda to the hills of nearby Valpolicella where the estate’s reds are born from sunny vineyards of Corvina and Rondinella in Costalunga in Sant’Ambrogio commune. Read more
