Description
What kind of wine it is
Branu by Vigne Surrau is a still, dry Vermentino di Gallura that encapsulates the most authentic essence of Sardinia. Made from Vermentino grapes, it stands out for its elegant profile and good structure. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet where fruity and mineral notes blend with delicate floral and marine hints. On the palate, it is full, smooth and juicy, enlivened by a vibrant freshness. The sip ends with a long and persistent finish, enhanced by a slight savoury sensation that accentuates its drinkability.
Where it comes from
The roots of this Sardinian white lie in the vineyards of Chilvagghja, in Arzachena. The Vigne Surrau project enhances a unique and strongly characteristic terroir, where Vermentino vines grow on granitic soils, characterised by a medium texture tending towards sandy and the presence of clays formed from the erosion of rocks. This specific composition is fundamental in giving the wine its typical savoury imprint, enriching its aromatic profile with nuances that evoke the marine environment and the blossoms of the Mediterranean scrub.
How it is produced
To preserve the integrity of the bunches, the process involves a cold cycle immediately after destemming and crushing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, ensuring maximum aromatic purity. The entire maturation continues in steel, preserving the young and vibrant nature of the wine. In the glass, the bright straw yellow colour with greenish reflections anticipates a freshness and minerality that faithfully reflect its place of origin.
History and Curiosities
Born from the vision of the Demuro family in Arzachena, Branu is the renowned Vermentino di Gallura DOCG by Vigne Surrau, a winery founded in 2001. This captivating white wine comes to life in the vineyards of Chilvagghja, where the vines sink their roots into soils formed from granite disintegration. Bottled strictly young to preserve its vibrant freshness, it encapsulates the authentic soul of Sardinia. Often described as spring in a glass, it offers enchanting hints of the sea and flowering meadows, enhancing that typical minerality that delights with every sip.
