Description
What kind of wine it is
Ritterhof Gewürztraminer Auratus is an aromatic white wine that captures the essence of Alto Adige with its intense straw yellow colour and golden highlights. Made from Gewürztraminer grapes, it offers an exuberant bouquet where notes of rose petals and geranium intertwine with hints of tropical fruit, elderflower, dill and sage. On the palate, it presents a rich and structured texture, perfectly balanced by a savoury and spicy freshness. This harmonious flavour profile makes it ideal for pairing with Asian cuisine, flavourful cheeses and refined seafood dishes, particularly enhancing shellfish and grilled fish.
Where it comes from
This white wine originates in Trentino Alto Adige, in the renowned area of Termeno, within the Rungg region. Ritterhof’s vineyards benefit from sunny exposure at an altitude between 320 and 400 metres above sea level, a position that ensures the grapes reach perfect physiological ripeness. The clay-silt soil plays a fundamental role, supporting the wine’s structure and amplifying its natural aromatic intensity. The estate operates with full respect for the land, following a sustainable viticulture approach to authentically enhance the identity of the Alpine landscape.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested between late September and mid-October, selecting only bunches that have reached optimal ripeness. In the winery, the Gewürztraminer grapes undergo a cold maceration of about seven hours before pressing, an essential step to extract the primary aromas from the skins. After fermentation at a controlled temperature, patient ageing and maturation on the lees give the wine its unmistakable roundness. This production choice enriches the tasting experience with a silky texture and a well-defined floral character, while also ensuring a remarkable capacity for ageing over time.
