Umani Ronchi Conero Campo San Giorgio Riserva 2017
The Conero Riserva Campo San Giorgio stands out as the most important experience of Umani Ronchi history in handling with excellence the Montepulciano grape from the Conero area (Ancona). The chosen name is the name of the exact piece of land in Osimo municipality, which clearly distinguished, after some experimentation harvests, for its unique character. The label is deliberately retro, hand-drawn in Indian ink, to emphasise how this wine is the result of a long experience, made up of research and experimentation, on the Montepulciano vine.

Colour

Ruby with garnet hints.

Bouquet

A broad olfactory structure with fruity notes of black cherries and sour cherries, macerated flowers, and rosemary. It also has a rich mineral structure and intense nuances of Sichuan pepper and sandalwood.

Flavour

The velvety tannins and good balance create elegance and dynamism, which result in a long persistent finish, rich in fruity returns embellished with fine spiciness.

Vinification The destalked grapes and a small variable percentage of whole bunches are fermented - without crushing - in stainless steel tanks on its natural yeasts at 28‐30°C for 14‐16 days.
Ageing Once the malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine is aged for 12 months in small barrels and further 12 months in large casks. The wine does not undergo any fining and filtration. After bottling, Campo San Giorgio rests in a temperature‐controlled environment for about 8‐10 months.
