History |
Riserva Ducale is a tribute to the Duke of Aosta, who in the late 19th century fell in love with the Chianti that Ruffino aged in large oak barrels, then called 'stravecchio' ('very old') and in 1890 appointed Ruffino as the official supplier to the Italian Royal Family. In the Duke's honour, the winery Ruffino renamed its most important wine as 'Riserva Ducale'. |
