The Schaetzel family has been elaborating its wines in Ammerschwihr in the greatest respect for natural balances and terroirs since 1803.
The Domaine Schaetzel was founded in 1930 by Martin Schaetzel whose ambition was already to make wines of quality, worthy of their exceptional terroirs.
In 1979, his nephew, Jean Schaetzel, fascinated by the expression of the terroirs and after oenology studies at the University of Dijon, took over the family vineyards and increased the value his uncle's production tool whilst respecting the fundamental values that were passed down to him in his youth.
Since 2010, Michel Vié, a former fighter pilot in the french navy and engineer, coming from a family of wine growers in south-western France since 1654, joined Jean to continue and develop the work of enhancing the finest terroirs in Alsace.
Certified in biological and biodynamic agriculture since the 1990s and signatory of the Organic Vinification Charter, our objective is to emphasize the originality of each of our terroirs.
