For a long time overlooked, he found new interest by some local wine growers around the '70s. It should not be confused with the Pelaverga, the largest acina and other features that differentiate it, located instead in the Saluzzese.
History The Pelaverga small vine does not have very clear origins, although it appears to be originally in the Verduno area, in the Langhe, where it is still cultivated. It may have come here for centuries or come from the Saluzzese, but differences from the pelaverga of that area are remarkable, especially for the size of the acino, which is at the origin of the "little" agressive.
Ampelographic features It has medium-large leaf, pentagonal, trilobate or rarely pentalobata; Medium-large bunch, conical or elongated pyramid, with one or more wings, one of which is long pedunculated, partially spatula (especially in the proximal part), long peduncle, lignified in the first section, with a pinkish greenish color; Medium-small, short-spheroidal, short-elliptical, with an abundantly covered wintry skin, with a blue-purple color with gray shades due to the presence of the wedge, has a pleasant taste of flesh. Production is medium-high but at alternating stages. It favors mixed-pruning counter-pond farming systems, dry hills and good exposure.
Characteristics of the wine obtained from this grape variety It is sometimes blended with Nebbiolo and Barbera. Varietal wines tend to be light in colour, smooth and fruity, occasionally spicy with sweet red fruit notes also a little peppery and nicely fresh.
