Areas of cultivation |
Pecorello is a small grape variety in the Calabria region, especially in the province of Cosenza. |
History |
Cultivated in the provinces of Cosenza and Catanzaro where it is named Pecorino. It has nothing in common with the pecorino grape grown in Central Italy. Known locally since the late 1800's. Among its synonyms is also "Pecorino", but this does not have to think about kinships with the Pecorino vine known in the center of Italy, being a completely different variety. |
