The history of the Cantina Le Macioche of Montalcino begins in the 1980s thanks to the initiative of a couple who poured their heart and soul into setting up this winery. Nowadays, the property has been passed on to three young entrepreneurs from the Veneto who enthusiastically run Le Macioche: Massimo Bronzato, Stefano Brunetto and Riccardo Caliari.

The company’s name comes from the local word for the root of the strawberry tree, the shrub which forms the forests surrounding the estate: Macioca. We wanted to give our logo a makeover, symbolising our bond with the Montalcino region. At the same time, the fresh design is the symbol of the fusion between tradition and innovation that will accompany our wines’ journey from now on. This fusion can be seen in the entire group run by the enologist, Maurizio Castelli, and the agronomist, Mery Ferrara. Since 2000, they have introduced organic farming methods to the company and now, thanks to the new ownership, they have received the official stamp of approval with the launch of the organic conversion process.

The company stretches over a total area of around 6 hectares and includes 3 hectares of Brunello vineyards, along with 1 hectare of olive groves. Our land is located at an altitude of around 420 m above sea level, facing South/South West.

Le Macioche is owned by the Cotarella Family.
