歷史 |
The Tuscan Trebbiano vine originates in the other vineyards of the Trebbiani family, known in Italy since the Roman times. Their name derives from "Trebula", or a farm (Pliny the old man describes a "Vinum Trebulanum", which according to this interpretation would be "country wine" or "home-made wine"). Distinguishing the various clones, which bear a name often indicating their prevalence or the most diffused area, is not always that easy. History has brought the Tuscan Trebbiano to France under the name of Ugni Blanc, where it constitutes the basis for the production of Cognac and Armagnac, probably following the Pope's transfer to Avignon in the fourteenth century. Others date its diffusion altogether to the marriage of Caterina de 'Medici with Henry II of Valois, king of France. |
