The town of Saint-Emilion (3,300 inhabitants) is home to one of the oldest French vineyards (classified as a world heritage site), dating back to the 13th century.
Many of Grands Cru's soils come from this terroir, which benefits from a calcareous and clayey soil favourable to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
