Description
Haras de Pirque Hussonet takes its name from its estate in Chile. The wine hails from the northern Maipo Valley, a wine-growing area par excellence that produces the nation's finest wines. Just two hours from Santiago, the valley is fertile thanks to irrigation from the Maipo River and the cold maritime influence that passes over the mountains. Antinori Marchesi, in collaboration with the Haras de Pirque estate, wanted to explore and experiment with the characteristics and potential of Chilean grape varieties. The Italian brand has also rediscovered its passion for equines in Chile, which is evident in the prancing horse on the labels, as the Maipo Valley is also famous for breeding young thoroughbreds. Haras de Pirque Hussonet is made from grapes harvested by hand at the end of April, 15% Cabernet Franc and 85% Cabernet Sauvignon. After harvesting, the vineyard parcels are vinified separately and pumped to extract a soft and elegant tannin from the grapes. The fermentation of the must into wine takes place in wooden barrels, after which the malolactic fermentation is triggered, which tends to make the quality of the wine more uniform. The oak wood gently cares for the Haras de Pirque Hussonet for twelve months, after which it is bottled without being filtered or clarified. The result is a pure wine, which has not undergone chemical transformations or the addition of components such as albumin or casein and other substances usually used in the clarification process. The Haras de Pirque Hussonet, thanks to the blend of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, is an intense purple with hints of aromatic herbs reminiscent of Chilean tradition such as tobacco.
