Description
What kind of wine it is
Vietti Moscato d’Asti Cascinetta is a sweet and lively white wine, made exclusively from Moscato Bianco grapes. It features a fine and soft perlage that enhances the brightness of its straw-yellow colour. On the nose, it releases an intense bouquet of peach, apricot, ginger, rose petals and orange blossom. On the palate, the sweetness is expertly balanced by a pleasant freshness, offering a juicy sip that remains true to the fruit. Ideal paired with citrus-based desserts, blue cheeses or Asian cuisine, it stands out for its long and persistent finish characterised by clear notes of fresh apricot.
Where it comes from
Produced in Piedmont in the renowned Moscato d’Asti area, this wine originates from small plots located in the territory of Castiglione Tinella. The vines are trained using the Guyot system on calcareous clay soils, the ideal environment for developing the aromatic richness of the grapes. The fruit’s intensity is enhanced by the presence of vineyards around forty years old, which ensure a natural productive balance. The Vietti winery tends the rows with a rigorous artisan and eco-sustainable approach, limiting interventions to preserve the authenticity of the land and the winegrowing identity of the area.
How it is produced
Manual harvesting is followed by a gentle pressing and natural cold settling. The must rests at very low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to prevent the spontaneous start of fermentation. Next, a partial fermentation in autoclave at controlled temperature takes place, which is essential for developing the delicate effervescence and maintaining the grape’s natural sugars. The process is halted by rapid cooling. Without undergoing malolactic fermentation, the wine is finally subjected to sterile filtration, ensuring its clarity and preserving its intact aromatic fragrance.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1873, the Vietti winery skilfully combines tradition and innovation in the heart of the Langhe. The refined Moscato d’Asti DOCG Cascinetta is produced from grapes hand-picked in the small vineyards of Castiglione Tinella. The winemaking process involves gentle pressing and partial fermentation in a pressurised tank, ideal techniques for preserving the wine’s natural effervescence and aromatic sweetness. Enhanced by a splendid artistic label, this wine showcases the expertise of oenologist Eugenio Palumbo and embodies true Piedmontese excellence.
