Description

What kind of wine it is

Terlano Pinot Grigio Tradition from Cantina Terlano is a still white wine that expresses the purity of Alto Adige. On the nose, it reveals a fragrant and fruity bouquet, with aromas of apple, pear, lychee and white melon blending with fresh floral notes. On the palate, the Pinot Grigio is dry and pleasantly smooth. The lively acidic tension and elegant hints of black tea accompany the sip towards a persistent and clean finish.

Where it comes from

The vineyards are located in Terlano, at an altitude between 250 and 500 metres. This area of Alto Adige enjoys ideal exposures and a climate characterised by a marked Alpine influence, which is essential for preserving the aromatic freshness of Pinot Grigio. The porphyry-rich soils give the wine a distinct mineral character and vibrant energy. Vineyard management strictly follows the principles of natural cultivation.

How it is produced

Production involves a manual harvest followed by gentle pressing. The must ferments slowly at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine completes its journey with ageing on fine lees for about five to seven months, always in steel. This technical choice preserves the natural liveliness of Pinot Grigio, ensuring a smooth and perfectly balanced structure.

History and Curiosities

Pinot Grigio Tradition is the result of the established expertise of Cantina Terlano, founded in South Tyrol in 1893. Under the expert guidance of oenologist Rudi Kofler, this wine embodies exceptional stylistic consistency within the Alto Adige DOC designation. Its excellence is widely recognised internationally: prestigious reviews from critics such as James Suckling and Robert Parker have awarded this label scores of up to 93/100, celebrating a white wine that elegantly tells the story of the region's winemaking tradition in the Alpine territory.
