Description

What kind of wine it is

The Champagne Zero Nature Magnum by Tarlant is a pure and rigorous wine. This non-dosage Champagne is created from a careful blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, complemented by Arbane, Petit Meslier and Pinot Blanc. In the glass, it displays a golden yellow colour with greenish highlights, revealing a complex aromatic profile of citrus fruits, honey, dried fruit and toasted notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dry and remarkably fresh, enhanced by a fine and creamy perlage. The absence of dosage makes it ideal for enhancing oysters and sushi, and it also pairs perfectly with fish-based dishes and cheeses.

Where it comes from

Its origins lie in the Champagne region, in the village of Œuilly. The vines sink their roots into chalky soils, sand, limestone and clay, a composition that gives the wine a profound gustatory tension. As an independent winemaker, Tarlant pursues a faithful expression of the terroir through separate vinifications for each micro-terroir. This artisanal care is reflected in a clear and vibrant sip, where the characteristics of the land of origin emerge with energy and a structure of notable freshness.

How it is produced

The process strictly follows the Champenoise Method, beginning with a first fermentation in steel. The base wine is enriched by the addition of reserve wines aged in oak barrels, gaining depth and complexity. To preserve the aromatic integrity, malolactic fermentation is not carried out. After the prise de mousse, the cycle concludes with manual disgorgement. The total absence of sugar dosage gives a dry and lively finish, highlighting an impeccable balance between structural depth and gustatory drive.

History and Curiosities

Active in Œuilly since 1687, the historic family-run maison presents Champagne Tarlant Zero Nature in the convivial Magnum format, a true expression of the mastery of an independent winemaker. Under the guidance of Benoît Tarlant, the estate enhances the micro-terroir through rigorous separate vinifications. Thanks to the decision not to carry out malolactic fermentation and to mature the reserve wines in fine oak barrels, a pure and vibrant Dosage Zero is born. The absence of added sugars reveals an artisanal masterpiece.

Tarlant is a small but extremely prestigious maison, rooted in the Champagne region since 1687, when the founder Pierre Tarlant began to cultivate the vine. A century later the Talant family moved to Oeuilly, in the Vallé de la Marne, where it contributed, with the first Cuvée Tarlant of the 1920s, to the so-called Révolution Champenoise, that is to say the prestige and excellence of French bubbles in the world.

Today, the Tarlant family owns 14 hectares of vineyards divided into 60 prestigious parcels, among which a free-standing plot (Les Sables) stands out, surviving the phylloxera epidemic thanks to the very sandy soil. Benoît Tarlant, representative of the XIV generation of the Tralant, cultivates these vineyards with great environmental sensitivity, attention to the micro-territoriality and the peculiarities of each individual parcel, demonstrating great qualities of vigneron and oenologist. In the cellar, separate vinification is preferred in barrique, but steel and cement vats are also used. We tend not to carry out the malolactic fermentation and the reserve wines are kept in cask.

Tarlant Champagne is rigorous, artisanal and complex, but it is not difficult or difficult. Tarlant was a forerunner in the 90s of zero doses and today all production, limited to just over 100,000 bottles a year, consists of pas dosé and extra brut. The style of these Champagne reveals a skilful and well-balanced use of wood and the exaltation of each micro-terroir: an elegant and balanced style that retains all the charm of the great Champagne.
