Description
What kind of spirit is this?
London Dry Gin by Tanqueray from the United Kingdom is crafted from neutral grain spirit infused with a classic botanical blend. Centred on juniper, it incorporates coriander, angelica, and liquorice for a crisp profile at 43.1% ABV. The nose reveals distinct balsamic herbal tones and light spices. On the palate, this London Dry Gin presents a smooth, rounded body with subtle citrus freshness. The experience concludes with a decisive dry finish that remains clean and defined, highlighting its dry and balanced character.
Geographical origin
The origins of this spirit date back to 1830, when Charles Tanqueray created the recipe in Bloomsbury, London. Production continues in the United Kingdom at the Cameron Bridge distillery in Fife. This unchanged recipe relies on a clear juniper lead and a restrained herbal structure. By maintaining strict control over the base spirit, Tanqueray ensures a consistent, clean botanical profile. Its identity remains deeply rooted in the historical distilling culture of the United Kingdom.
How it is produced
The process begins with pure neutral grain spirit, which undergoes redistillation alongside selected botanicals. The liquid is distilled four times in traditional copper pot stills, refining its purity to deliver a precise, dry style. This creates a bright, transparent spirit that retains a strong structure when mixed. It performs excellently with tonic water, plenty of ice, and a wedge of lime. Serving it chilled at a temperature of 4–5 °C perfectly highlights the crisp, vegetal finish.

First crafted in London in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray, this iconic spirit remains faithful to its original recipe, serving as a benchmark of distilling excellence for nearly two centuries. Now produced in Fife, its enduring quality has cemented a stellar reputation among industry professionals. In 1990 Cameronbridge expanded its production of distillates: the gin Tanqueray stands out for its quality range and prestige. Tanqueray's recipe has remained unchanged since 1830 and includes 4 major botanicals: Tuscan juniper, angelic root, coriander and liquorice, which give the gin a cool and dry style. The selection of these plant extracts is crucial for the quality of the final product. Water also plays a key role in this process: demineralized water, combined with that of an underground source, is added to the wheat distillate before infusion of botanicals, not to deteriorate vegetable extracts and to ensure integrity and finesse of aromas.
Cameronbridge gin is produced with a perfectly balanced recipe, which gives them a rich and full flavor. One amongst all the Gin Jinzu, obtained from Japanese botanicals: yuzo, cherry blossoms, sakes and juniper berries. An elegant and delicate gin that encloses all the charm of the East. Read more
