Description

Sweet Passito from Veneto, 13.5% ABV, produced by Bosco del Merlo. 100% Verduzzo Friulano. 0.75 L bottle, 2020 vintage. A wine born of passion and sustainability, a tribute to the region and its history. The name "Bosco del Merlo" recalls the oak forests that once covered the area. Soandre is a wine conceived entirely in the vineyard. Some of the grapes are harvested early in the ripening process and are destined for drying, while the rest remain on the vine for a long time to undergo a process of over-ripening. Both musts ferment in 225-liter barrels, where they age for 10 months. The aroma is enveloping, seductive with notes of citrus and ripe tropical fruit. It has an intense golden color. The flavor is extremely refined, with an extremely balanced sweetness that retains a pleasant freshness.

The name "Bosco del Merlo" is derived from local topographical maps which refer to the oak forests that once covered the area. The vineyards of Bosco del Merlo are situated between the ancient Roman consular roads of Via Annia and Via Postumia, dating back to the early centuries after Christ.

The Bosco del Merlo estate winery started up in 1977 in Annone Veneto, founded by siblings Carlo, Lucia and Roberto Paladin. Thanks to a profitable collaboration with the Istituto Sperimentale per la Viticoltura di Conegliano, a careful and modern zoning technique was immediately implemented in order to get the best out of the terroir, working the vineyard piece by piece. In the nineties, in the small town of Lison di Portogruaro, the cradle of viticulture in this wine-making region, a further 50 hectares of land was acquired, which therefore doubled capacity, increasing it to around 100 hectares in total.

Over the course of the years Bosco del Merlo has benefited from the advice of famous oenologists and experts from the Faculties of Oenology and Agriculture in Padua and Milan, such as Franco Bernabei and Leonardo Valenti, in its quest to find the most forward-thinking solutions for achieving optimal quality with the lowest environmental impact.

Harvest Soandre is a wine made entirely in the vineyard. Part of the grapes are harvested at an early stage of ripening and destined for drying, while the rest remain on the vine for a long time to undergo an over-ripening process. The phenomena of sugar and aromatic concentration will lead to a complex olfactory and taste identity.
Wine making A part of the grapes that have undergone the over-ripening process is vinified at the time of harvest; the other part is dried by natural ventilation.
Aging Both musts ferment in 225-litre barrels, where they mature for 10 months.
