Description
A still red from Brindisi, Puglia, 15% ABV, produced by Tenute Rubino. 100% Susumaniello, 2019 vintage. A wine that tells the story of a family and their love for their land. Hand-harvested into crates in early October, followed by controlled drying for 2-3 weeks. Fermentation at 22-24°C in steel tanks. Maceration: 16 days, at a controlled temperature. Aged for 5-6 months in steel, a minimum of 12 months in new French oak barriques, and 12 months in bottle. Deep, intense red with purple highlights on the rim. Elegant, ethereal, and complex notes of black cherry and plum in alcohol, blackcurrant and blackberry jam are distinctly detectable, alternating with delicious hints of chocolate, juniper, nutmeg, licorice, cinnamon, and ink. Of great class and harmony, intense, of endless persistence, an extraordinary result of powerful and fragrant fruit, powerful acidity and tannins of unparalleled finesse, already very noble and well-defined.

Both the traditions of Salento and a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit have been passed down from Tommaso to his son, Luigi, who has since taken over with the support of his wife, Romina. Luigi has undertaken this entrepreneurial legacy, pouring all of his passion into the family’s winery and making it a global ambassador of Apulian viticulture.
After all, winemaking is an ancient art here in Jaddico: over the years, archaeologists have brought to light a Roman manor house filled with kilns, where Visellio—the owner of the estate—fired the amphorae used to export his wine to the four corners of the Roman Empire. At the time, this land was home to extensive vineyards and served as an important manufacturing center for wine containers.
