Description
The name "Mamertino" is rooted in antiquity when the Mamertini people produced this wine, described by Pliny and beloved by Julius Caesar, at Milazzo. The grapes Nero d’Avola and Nocera are aged for 12 months in 35-hl barrels. The small winery stands a short distance from the sea and is surrounded by the spectacular vines planted at Capo Milazzo. The Fondazione Barone Lucifero, the land proprietor, uses part of the income for children's social, cultural and recreational activities in the Milazzo area.
