Description

For the first time we are trying our hand at something that is not part of our world of vineyards, grapes and cellars. Something that we like to drink and that is a welcome accompaniment to our free time. Why not try to produce it ourselves, then? The invitation came from our friend Priscilla Occhipinti, owner of Distilleria Nannoni, who has always taken care of the production of our historic Aqua Vitae. Thanks to her precious collaboration, we have created this Gin in our image and likeness, using botanicals strictly from our estate and the woods that surround it. In short: lemon peel and dried kumquat, fig leaf, walnut leaf, orris root, juniper berries. It is a London Dry Gin, therefore obtained by distilling the macerated botanicals in cereal alcohol.

Serve at:

12 - 14 °C.

Grappa/Gin (tulip-shaped)

Pairings

We recommend it neat, very cold. The encounter with a good tonic, possibly tending towards bitter, is in any case a nice alternative.

Montevertine is located in the heart of the Chianti hills, in the town of Radda in Chianti at 425 meters high. The site was certainly inhabited since the 11th century. In fact, there are still traces of the original building, certainly defensive, then transformed into a lodging.
Montevertine was purchased in 1967, Sergio Manetti, then the steel industry, as a holiday home. He restored the house to make it habitable and just planted two acres of vineyard and set up a small store with the idea of producing a 'wine for his friends and customers.
The first year of production, 1971, was more discreet and Sergio Manetti decided some bottles at Vinitaly via the Chamber of Commerce of Siena. It was an immediate success and so enthusiastic about Mr. Manetti that after a few years he abandoned his core business to focus solely on wine. New vineyards were planted, new wineries, and this without any interruption, with a development company that still lasts.
The farm, after the death of Sergio Manetti in November of 2000, is now run by his son Martino Manetti collaboration with Bruno Bini, born in Montevertine and deep knowledge of the area and land. Giulio Gambelli, expert wine taster, offers his advice and assistance in the preparation of wines.
