Description

The grapes are selected from vineyards that are well exposed to the sun, with a considerable proportion of older vines that produce lower yelds, resulting in a grater concentration. This wine is produced only in excellent or very good vintages.

The name of this winery, Marqués de Càceres was lent by D.Vicente Noguera y Espinosa de los Monteros.
Today, he has been succeded by his son D. Juan Noguera Merle, a worthy representative of the Marquisate which was granted in the XVIII century to his ancestor Juan Ambrosio Harcia de Càceres y Montemayor, a Captain of the Royal Armada for war merits.

Climate Mild Atlantic climate with marked seasons.
Soil composition Mainly clay and limestone. Some parcels in Rioja Alta with ferrous subsoil.
Wine making The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed. Alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures, starting off at 10°C to reach 28°C. Prolonged alcoholic maceration with the skins up to 25 days to extract more colour, aromas and tannic structure. Malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks.
Aging 20 months in French oak barrels, split equally between brand new barrels and two & three-year old barrels.
